The Beginning – When an individual takes on a new task, job or responsibility
that can result in high level energy, commitment, success, creative process or become life changing. In this first phase this is where the ambition, the drive and the motivation kicks in full throttle. This is the phase where one pursues one’s goal and vision thinking large results will occur in either a small or specific set of time. This is where one tends to be naive as one is blinded by one’s optimism.

2nd Phase – The level of stress checks in. This is where the energy levels become split. The realization that the workload is harder than one could imagine and results are not what was expected. Either you could not produce or you’re not quite there yet. Therefore this phase turns into anxiety, headaches, irritation, lack of sleep, over thinking, neglect of personal needs and relaxation. This is the phase where an individual becomes mentally handicaped without knowing it.

3rd Phase – This phase is the breaking phase. Where one tends to over work themselves and stress leads to exhaustion. In which leads to lack of patience, depression, anger and physical illness. This phase happens due to over working and over thinking. This is a phase where it is very important to acknowledge this sooner rather than later.

4th Phase – The Crisis Phase – Frustrations involving work become fiercely overwhelming. Neglecting one’s self care. This phase has a lot of lows where one wants to disappear from society. Resulting in a mental breakdown and one’s focus is shattered. Emotions are high and tensions arise. Often in this phase an individual is quick to lash out on others. It is this Phase where one accepts the situation for what it is once one’s eyes have been opened to the change in behaviour that one has been experiencing.

The Recovery Phase.

What does the Recovery Phase consist of? It consist of the following:

# 1. SELF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT – Seeing the situation for what it is. Seeing that you are neglecting yourself. Your healthy habits have been broken and replaced by non healthy habits. Realizing your emotions and your thoughts and your actions are not aligning with who you are internally or who you are regularly. Acknowledging the problem is the first step to recovering from the problem. Remember that.

# 2 SLEEP AND RELAXATION – It is important that our bodies get a goodnight’s rest. Exhaustion leads to not only mental failure but physical failure as well. It is important to take a few moments to yourself. Whether it be a 15 minute walk, 15 minute nap or just a few moments of silence throughout the day to discharge from your work temporarily helps you see clearly. It affects the bigger picture. Sleeping at least 6-8 hours a day helps the mind to focus. Retain the information that you need to do your job that you would not normally be able to based on just a few hours of sleep.

# 3 NUTRITION AND HYDRATION – The key elements aside from sleep and relaxation. Nutrition is very important. The importance of feeding your body fresh foods to make sure you have enough energy throughout the day is essential. Staying hydrated helps keep the human body alert, awake and replenished. Avoid depriving your body from the nutrients it needs to live better and help you focus.

# 4 SOCIALIZATION – Reconnecting with loved ones. Daily check ins are welcome. If you’re too busy, do it every other day or once a week. Keeping yourself in the loop with others helps to keep you in the loop with yourself.

# 5 PHYSICAL ACTIVITY – Keep your body moving. Did you know that exercise is not only a great way to release toxins from your body but it is also a great way to relieve yourself from stress. Keeping active is a great way to take out your frustrations by focusing and channeling your energy in your preferred sport.

# 6 – MENTAL HEALTH – Daily wellness and affirmations. This one is huge. Having “pep talks” with yourself. The idea that you can do what you put your mind to and having self-elevation can help bring you out of the depressing state. The thought and remembering of what you are fully capable of. Your potential, your ambition, and your drive. Sometimes you have to be your own cheerleader. Don’t forget that.
