WHAT IS DEPAKOTE AND IT IS USED?

Depakote (divalproex sodium) is a stable coordination compound comprised of sodium valproate and valproic acid used to treat manic depression associated with bipolar disorder, epilepsy, and migraine headaches. Depakote tablets and capsules are used to treat seizures in persons over the age of ten who have epilepsy. Other seizure drugs are sometimes combined with the pills.

This medication is used to treat seizure disorders, certain psychiatric conditions (manic phase of bipolar disorder), and to prevent migraine headaches. It works by restoring the balance of certain natural substances (neurotransmitters) in the brain.

MISSED DOSE

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Take your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose to catch up.

OVERDOSE

If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away.

STORAGE

Store away from light and moisture at room temperature. Keep out of the bathroom. All drugs should be kept out of reach of children and pets.
