BEFORE YOU TAKE THE MEDICATION
You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to amlodipine or olmesartan. If you have diabetes, do not use amlodipine and olmesartan together with any medication that contains aliskiren (a blood pressure medicine). You may also need to avoid taking Amlodipine-Olmesartan with aliskiren if you have kidney disease. Tell your doctor if you have ever had: kidney disease; liver disease; coronary artery disease; angina (chest pain), congestive heart failure; high levels of potassium in your blood; if you are on a low-salt diet; if you are 75 years or older; or if you recently had a heart attack. Do not use if you are pregnant. Stop using the medicine and tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant. Olmesartan can cause injury or death to the unborn baby if you take the medicine during your second or third trimester. You should not breastfeed while using this medicine.
HOW TO USE
Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. If you also take certain drugs to lower your cholesterol (bile acid-binding resins such as cholestyramine, colesevelam, colestipol), take amlodipine/olmesartan at least 4 hours before any of these medications. Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. Keep taking this medication even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick. It may take up to 2 weeks before you get the full benefit of this drug. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens (your blood pressure readings remain high or increase).
SIDE EFFECTS
Common side effects of Amlodipine-Olmesartan include: low blood pressure, flushing of the cheeks, palpitations (a pounding or racing heartbeat), drowsiness, dizziness or orthostasis (feeling lightheaded when rising from a sitting or lying down position) and edema. STORAGE
Store tablets at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
Store the suspension in the refrigerator at 36-46 degrees F (2-8 degrees C). Do not freeze. Discard any unused suspension after 4 weeks.
