WHAT IS TAZORAC CREAM ?
Tazorac’s active ingredient is tazarotene. It belongs to the retinoid drug class. A drug class is a group of medications that work in a similar way.) Retinoids are similar to vitamin A. Tazorac cream is also available in a generic form called tazarotene. This generic is available in one strength: 0.1%. (Generics have the same active ingredient as brand-name drugs but typically cost less.)It is a 0.05% and 0.1% is for topical use and contains the active ingredient, tazarotene. Each gram of Tazorac Cream, 0.05% and 0.1% contains 0.5 and 1 mg of tazarotene, respectively in a white cream base.
USE
TAZORAC CREAM is licensed for the treatment of acne in adults and children aged 12 and up. Adults with plaque psoriasis can use the cream form to treat their condition.
Tazarotene is used to treat psoriasis or acne. It is a retinoid product related to Vitamin A. It works by affecting the growth of skin cells.The foam and lotion forms of this medication are only approved for use on acne.
PRECAUTIONS
Before using tazarotene, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to vitamin A-related drugs (other retinoids such as isotretinoin); or if you have any other allergies. TAZORAC CREAM is only for external usage. TAZORAC Cream should not be used in the eyes, mouth, or intravaginally. If you come into contact with your mucous membranes, rinse them well with water.
