WHAT IS DERMA SMOOTHE/FS?
Topical fluocinolone (for the skin) is a steroid. It inhibits the inflammatory effects of substances in the body. Atopic dermatitis is treated with fluocinolone body oil (a form of eczema). Psoriasis of the scalp is treated with fluocinolone scalp oil.
USE
This medication is used to treat scalp psoriasis. Fluocinolone reduces the swelling, itching, and redness that occurs with this condition. This medication is a low- to medium-strength corticosteroid.
STORAGE
Store in a tightly closed container at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Brief storage between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
HOW SHOULD I USE DERMA-SMOOTHE/FS?
Follow your prescription’s instructions to the letter. Use Derma-Smoothe/FS (Scalp) in the specified quantity and for the recommended length of time. Topical steroid medication can be absorbed through the skin, resulting in steroid side effects all over the body.
You should not use Derma-Smoothe/FS (Scalp) on your face, underarms, or groin area unless your doctor has told you to. Avoid applying this medication to areas where the skin creases. Wash your hands before and after using Derma-Smoothe/FS (Scalp).
SIDE EFFECTS
Stinging, burning, irritation, dryness, or redness at the application site may occur. Acne, excessive hair growth, “hair bumps” (folliculitis), skin thinning/discoloration, or stretch marks may also occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
