WHAT IS EXEMESTANE?
Exemestane is an oral steroidal aromatase inhibitor used in the adjuvant treatment of hormonally-responsive (also called hormone-receptor-positive, estrogen-responsive) breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It irreversibly binds to the active site of the enzyme resulting in permanent inhibition.
USE OF EXEMESTANE
This medication is used to treat certain types of breast cancer (such as hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer) in women after menopause. Exemestane is also used to help prevent the cancer from returning. Some breast cancers are made to grow faster by a natural hormone called estrogen. Exemestane decreases the amount of estrogen the body makes and helps to slow or reverse the growth of these breast cancers. Exemestane is usually not used in women of childbearing age.
PRECAUTIONS
Before taking exemestane, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Follow the directions on the label and container of your drug. All of your medical conditions, allergies, and medications should be disclosed to each of your healthcare providers.
BEFORE TAKING THIS MEDICINE
If you are allergic to exemestane, or if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, or if you have not yet reached menopause and are still having menstrual cycles, you should not use it. Hormone replacement therapy, or birth control pills, patches, injections, or implants.

If you have liver or renal illness, or if you are still having menstrual cycles, consult your doctor.
STORAGE
Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
OVERDOSE
Call 911 if someone has overdosed and is experiencing severe symptoms like as passing out or difficulty breathing. Otherwise, contact a poison control center right once.
HOW SHOULD I TAKE EXEMESTANE?

EXEMESTANE SIDE EFFECTS
If you experience hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or neck, get immediate medical attention.

Hot flashes, fatigue, joint discomfort, nausea, increased appetite, sleep problems (insomnia), or increased sweating are among symptoms of menopause.
