WHAT IS FINACEA?

Finacea is a prescription medication used to treat Acne Vulgaris and Mild to Moderate Rosecea inflammatory papules and pustules. Finacea can be taken on its own or in combination with other drugs. Finacea 15 % Gel (Finacea) contains the active substance azelaic acid and belongs to the
group of anti-acne preparations for external use (on the skin). USE

Finacea is used to treat the following conditions:

1 – Mild to moderate acne vulgaris, usually simply called acne. When rubbed into the skin, the azelaic acid in Finacea kills the bacteria that cause acne. Finacea also stops the acne relevant (epidermal) skin cells from growing too strongly and thus blocking the pores of the skin to form pimples.

2 – Rosacea, where the skin on the nose and cheeks has one or more of the following features: a redness that looks like a blush; pimples; small knobbly lumps on the nose and / or thin red lines due to enlarged blood vessels. (If using Finacea for rosacea, you should contact a doctor for a correct diagnosis of your condition before commencing treatment.) It is not known exactly how Finacea works to treat rosacea.

HOW TO APPLY FINACEA GEL

1. Before you apply Finacea, clean the skin thoroughly with water and dry. You may use a mild skin-cleansing agent.

2. Apply Finacea to the affected skin areas twice a day (in the morning and the evening) and rub it gently into the skin. Approximately 2.5 cm, which is equal to 0.5 g(1 inch) of gel, is sufficient for the entire face.

3. Wash your hands after applying the gel.

Finacea works more effectively if used continuously over the entire period of treatment.

WHAT ARE SOME OTHER SIDE EFFECTS OF FINACEA?

Finacea is known to cause skin irritation (azelaic acid gel). Burning, itching, and stinging are all symptoms of skin irritation. Skin discomfort was most common within the first several weeks after taking Finacea (azelaic acid gel). If you develop skin irritation that is severe, bothers you, or does not go away, see your doctor.
