WHAT EXACTLY IS HYZAAR?

Hyzaar is a drug that combines hydrochlorothiazide and losartan. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that prevents your body from absorbing too much salt, causing fluid retention.

If you are pregnant, avoid using Hyzaar. If you become pregnant while taking the medication, stop taking it and tell your doctor right once. If you take hydrochlorothiazide or losartan during your second or third trimester, it can harm or kill your unborn child.

HOW SHOULD I TAKE HYZAAR?

Hyzaar should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. Read all drug guides or instruction sheets and follow all guidelines on your prescription label. Your doctor may adjust your dose from time to time.Your blood pressure will need to be monitored on a regular basis.If you’re unwell with vomiting or diarrhea, or if you’re sweating more than normal, call your doctor. You can easily become dehydrated while taking this medicine. This can lead to very low blood pressure, a serious electrolyte imbalance, or kidney failure.

If you need surgery or medical tests, tell the surgeon ahead of time that you are using Hyzaar.

If you have high blood pressure, keep using Hyzaar even if you feel well. High blood pressure often has no symptoms. You may need to use blood pressure medicine for the rest of your life.Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.

If you develop hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, seek emergency medical attention right away.
