Purpose of Nasonex
Nasonex is a prescription drug used to treat symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergies, such as stuffy nose, sneezing, runny nose (allergic rhinitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis), and nasal polyps. Nasonex can be used alone or in combination with other medicines.
Nasonex belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids and is administered intranasally.
Mometasone is used to prevent and treat seasonal and year-round allergic symptoms (such as stuffy/runny nose, itching, and sneezing). Mometasone is also used to treat certain growths in the nose (nasal polyps). It belongs to a class of medicines known as corticosteroids. It works by reducing swelling (inflammation) of the nasal passages.
How do you use Nasonex
The usual dose is once a day for a runny nose (rhinitis) and once or twice a day for polyps. Blow your nose gently before using this medicine. Shake it well before use.
Remove the cap. Press the first nostril closed with your finger. Tilt your head slightly forward, hold the bottle upright, and gently insert the nasal applicator into the other nostril. Firmly press the pump to perform the prescribed number of injections. Do not spray directly between the wall of the nose (nasal septum). Breathe in slowly through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Wipe the tip of the applicator and replace the plastic cap. Do not blow your nose for 15 minutes after using this medicine.
Nasonex should be primed by pumping 10 times or until a fine mist appears. The pump can be stored unused for up to 1 week without repriming.
primer (if needed)
If not used for more than a week, double press or prime until the fine spray is released.
