USE OF  NIDAGEL VAGINAL CREAM

Metronidazole vaginal gel is used for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (also referred to as Hemophilus vaginitis, Gardnerella vaginitis, or nonspecific vaginitis), a bacterial infection of the vagina. It is not effective in treating another common vaginal infection, Candidal vaginosis (“yeast infection”).

HOW TO USED  NIDAGEL VAGINAL CREAM

This medication is to be used vaginally. As this product may leak and stain your underwear, you are advised to wear a sanitary napkin during the treatment. Use the product for the prescribed period of time and follow the directions for use included in the package.

When applying this product, you may feel a slight irritation at first. If the irritation becomes severe or continues longer than a few minutes, consult your doctor or pharmacist.Continue using this medication even if you are menstruating.This medication is typically used only once a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Generally, a treatment with this medication lasts several days. Use it for the entire time prescribed in order to achieve the medication’s full benefit.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

One applicator full (approximately 5 grams) of Nidagel (metronidazole) 0.75% vaginal gel should be inserted into the vagina once daily at bedtime for 5 days, or twice daily at morning and bedtime for 5 days. Controlled studies with alternate dosage schedules have not been conducted. If patients do not respond to initial therapy, it is recommended That appropriate laboratory measures be used to rule out other conditions before retreating with Nidagel.

STORAGE

As with most medications, this product should be stored at room temperature. Store it in a secure location where it will not be exposed to excessive heat, moisture or direct sunlight. Make sure that any leftover portion is disposed of safely.
