Product Description

Purpose of Targaxan
Targaxane contains the active ingredient rifaximin. Targaxane is an antibiotic that destroys bacteria that can cause a condition called hepatic encephalopathy (symptoms include agitation, confusion, muscle problems, difficulty speaking, and sometimes coma).

Targaxan Uses

Targaxan is used in adults with liver disease to reduce recurrent episodes of overt hepatic encephalopathy. Targaxan can be used alone or, more commonly, with drugs containing lactulose (a laxative).

How do you use Targaxan

Take Targaxan with a glass of water orally or exactly as instructed by your doctor. If you are not sure, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Dosage

The recommended dose is 1 tablet twice daily with a glass of water. If you take more than the recommended number of tablets, consult your doctor even if there are no particular problems. Take the following dose at your usual time.

Depressed mood
Dizziness
Accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity
Shortness of breath
Feeling or being sick
Headache
Stomach ache or bloating/swelling
Diarrhea

The tablets may cause your urine to turn pink, which is normal and harmless.

Keep Targaxan out of reach of children. Always store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
