Celebrex is an rx required medication that is brand name. Celebrex is an FDA approved medication. Celebrex is available as a generic drug called celecoxib. The generic equivalent is considered to be as safe and effective as the original drug. Generics tend to cost less than brand-name drugs. In some cases, the brand-name drug and the generic version may come in different forms and strengths. Celebrex contains the active drug Celecoxib.
Avoid taking Celebrex should you be allergic to Celecoxib, or if you have: an allergy to sulfa drugs; or a history of asthma attack or severe allergic reaction after taking aspirin or an NSAID. Prior to using this medication, be sure to inform your Primary Care Physician if you have a stomach ulcer, bleeding in your stomach or intestines; heart disease, high blood pressure; asthma; bleeding problems; liver or kidney disease; or if you smoke or drink alcohol. If you are pregnant, you should not take Celebrex unless your doctor tells you to. Speak with your Primary Care Physician if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.
Consume this medication as directed from your Primary Care Physician. usually once or twice daily. Be sure to take this medication with food. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Take this medication at the lowest effective dose and only for the prescribed length of time. Take this medication with a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters) unless your Primary Care Physician directs you otherwise. Avoid taking this medication prior to laying down.
Do not freeze this medication. This medication should be kept out of direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and out of pets.

Refrain from taking aspirin or other NSAIDs unless your doctor tells you to. Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase your risk of stomach bleeding. Ask your Primary Care Physician or Pharmacist before using other medicines for pain, fever, swelling, or cold/flu symptoms. They may contain ingredients similar to celecoxib (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, or naproxen).
