Pitavastatin + Ezetimibe is a combination of two medicines: Pitavastatin and Ezetimibe. Pitavastatin is a lipid-lowering medicine which prevents your body from making “bad” cholesterol (LDL) while raising “good” cholesterol (HDL) levels. Ezetimibe is a cholesterol absorption inhibitor which prevents absorption of cholesterol from the intestines. Together, they provide better reduction of cholesterol in your body.
USE
PITAVASTATIN is an inhibitor of HMG-CoA reducing cholesterol levels and decreasing the risk of cardiovascular disease including stroke and myocardial infarction.
Pitavastatin is an oral antilipemic agent which inhibits HMG-CoA reductase. It is used to lower total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), apolipoprotein B (apoB), non-high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (non-HDL-C), and trigleride (TG) plasma concentrations while increasing HDL-C concentrations. High LDL-C, low HDL-C and high TG concentrations in the plasma are associated with increased risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. The total cholesterol to HDL-C ratio is a strong predictor of coronary artery disease and high ratios are associated with higher risk of disease. Increased levels of HDL-C are associated with lower cardiovascular risk. By decreasing LDL-C and TG and increasing HDL-C, rosuvastatin reduces the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.

PITAVASTATIN is supplied by mouth as a pill. It is often taken with or without food once a day. Take pitavastatin every day at approximately the same time. Follow your medication label carefully and ask your pharmacist or doctor to explain anything you do not understand. Take the precise directed pitavastatin. Do not take or take more of it or more often than your doctor has prescribed.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A DOSE?
Take the medication as soon as possible, but skip the missed dose if your next dose is approaching. Take no more than one dose at a time.
PITAVASTATIN SIDE EFFECTS
In rare cases, pitavastatin can cause a disease that causes skeletal muscle tissue to disintegrate and can lead to kidney failure. Call your doctor right away, especially when you also have fever, unusual tiredness, and dark urine, if you have unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness.
Common adverse effects may be:
- pain in the muscle;
- Arms or legs pain;
- back pain; or
- Constipation, diarrhea.
STORAGE
Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
