Purpose of Tricor

TriCor is a prescription drug used with diet in adults to lower triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL (bad) cholesterol and raise HDL (good) cholesterol. TriCor is also used in adult diets to lower high triglyceride levels.

Tricor Uses

Fenofibrate is used with a proper diet to lower “bad” cholesterol and fats (LDL, triglycerides, etc.) in the blood and increase “good” cholesterol (HDL). It works by increasing natural substances (enzymes) that break down fats in the blood. In people with very high blood triglyceride levels, lowering triglyceride levels can reduce the risk of developing a disease of the pancreas (pancreatitis). However, fenofibrate may not reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke. In addition to a proper diet (such as a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet), other lifestyle changes that may improve the effectiveness of this drug include exercise, weight loss if overweight, and smoking cessation. How do you use a Trajenta

If you are also taking certain other drugs to lower cholesterol levels (bile acid sequestrants such as cholestyramine or colestipol), take fenofibrate at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after taking these drugs These drugs can bind to fenofibrate and prevent your body from fully absorbing the drug.

Take it at the same time each day to make it easier to remember. Do not increase the dose or use this medication more often or for longer than prescribed. It will not lower your cholesterol/triglyceride levels faster and increases your risk of side effects. Please continue taking your medicine.

Tricor Dosage

The usual adult dose of Tricol is 145 mg once daily.

Tricor Side Effects

This medicine rarely causes gallstones or liver problems. Tell your doctor right away if you notice any of the following unlikely but serious side effects: persistent nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, Stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing of eyes/skin, and dark urine.

This drug rarely causes muscle problems (and rarely leads to a very serious condition called rhabdomyolysis). See your doctor right away if you experience any of the following symptoms: Muscle pain/tenderness/weakness (especially with fever or unusual fatigue), signs of kidney problems (such as changes in urine output).

The drug rarely caused a significant drop in HDL (“good” cholesterol) levels. This is the opposite of what should happen at the HDL level (a paradoxical reaction). Please adhere to all lab schedules.

Tell your doctor right away if you have serious side effects such as easy bleeding, bruising, or unusual tiredness.

Tricor Storage

Store Tricor in a cool and dry place. For example, store it in a dresser drawer or kitchen cabinet away from stoves, sinks, and other hot appliances. You can also store your medicines in storage boxes, shelves, or closets.
